9 Selecting Standards for Pipe Supports and Hangers

 

1. When choosing pipe support, you should select appropriate one according to the loading capacity and direction of support point, bearing point, displacement of the pipeline, working temperature, heat or cold preservation and its material.

 

2. You should choose standard pipe clamp, sliding tube and hanger when designing it so as to speed up the construction progress. Try to use welding type sliding tube and pipe hanger which are simply made and easily operated to save steel material.

 

3. With the following special circumstances you can take other special type sliding tube and pipe hanger: (1)carbon steel pipe whose medium temperature is over 400 ℃; (2)pipeline used for transporting freezing medium; (3)pipeline often needed to be removed or inspected;(4)alloy steel pipeline; (5)tubes which are overhead installation and not easy to be welded.

 

4. To prevent too large lateral displacement and possible impact load and ensure that the pipeline is along the axial displacement, we generally set pipe run on the pipes with the following conditions: (1)high-speed vent pipe of the outlet of safety valve and two-phase flow pipe with possible vibration; (2)the lateral displacement is too large which may affect the adjacent pipe, and the pipeline whose long distance of the fixed support may produce lateral instability; (3)pipeline having lateral displacement to prevent the leakage of flange and the union; (4)pipeline having lateral displacement to prevent excessive vibration.

 

5. Overhead-installed pipeline whose thermal capacity is more than 100mm should chooses extension pipe support, so as to avoid pipe bracket fall on the pipe beam.

 

6. When the stents root is welded on the steel equipment, the plate should be formed according to the shape of the equipment. When the wall thickness is more than 38 mm carbon steel equipment, its formation should be approved by equipment professionals; in addition, when it is in the alloy equipment, plate material should be same with the equipment material and must obtain the consent of professionals.

 

7. For large load support location, you should contact with relevant professionals in advance and tell them stent location, elevation and load conditions.

 

8. Variable spring support can be selected under following working conditions: (1)when the pipe has upward vertical displacement at the point of support, which makes the support lose its load function, the load transfer will cause adjacent support exceeding its carrying capacity or the pipeline span is more than the maximum value; (2)when the pipeline has vertical displacement in the bearing point, and selecting the general rigid support will stop the displacement of the pipeline; (3)the load rate of the vertical displacement should be no more than 25%; (4)when the deformation of the selected spring cannot meet the requirements, two springs can be installed in; (5)for two springs in series, the load they bear should be the same and the total displacement should be distributed according to the proportion of the biggest compression of each spring; (6)when the actual load is over maximum allowable load in the selected spring specification table, you can choose two or more springs for parallel installation; (7)parallel spring should choose the same model and distribute load by number of parallel springs.

 

9. When the pipe vertical displacement in the bearing point and require supporting force changes in the scope within 8%, the piping should be adopted with constant force spring support.
