General Sorts of Olets Based on Connections

Olets are also called as saddle shaped pipe joints. Pipe olets are mainly used to reinforce the connection of branch pipes. Being safe and reliable, olets usually take place of pipe tees, reinforcement plates, stiffening pipe sections and other pipe joints. 

 

It is convenient for constructors to install olets. Manufactured at low cost, olets are capable of improving the media runner. There are series of manufacture standards for pipeline olets. On base of user-friendly design, olets are widely used in both industrial and residential fields, especially for connecting pipelines with big calibers and thick walls under environments of high pressures and high temperatures. Olets substitute for traditional connection methods of branch pipes. 

 

Olets usually have the same body materials as pipelines. They are manufactured from the choice of superior forgings, which are made of carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, etc. Olets are always welded to main pipelines. Nevertheless, the connection methods between olets and branch pipes or other fittings (such as stub pipes, pipe plugs, meters, valves) are various from each other. 

 

There are three connection methods for selection when connecting with pipe fittings and branch pipes, that is, butt weld type, socket weld type and thread type. On this basis, olets can be classified into three categories: weldolets, sockolets and threadolets. The common manufacture standards for olets are MSS, GB, Q/FG and so on. 

 

However, according to the types of manufacture, olets can be classified into four types. There are standard olets, nipolets, latrolets and elbolets.

When placing orders, it is important to give clear indication of conditions of main pipes and branch pipes, including their sizes, pressures, materials and so on. The manufacture standards should also be specified to make sure consistent dimensions.
