What Is Pipe Elbow?

A pipe elbow is a basic part in plumbing and piping systems that's used to alter the direction of a pipeline. Pipe elbows come in different angles, commonly 45 degrees or 90 degrees, and are crucial for maintaining the correct flow of fluids.

Types of Pipe Elbows

45-Degree Elbow: This type of elbow shifts the pipe's direction by 45 degrees. It's a common choice for gentle turns in the pipeline.
90-Degree Elbow: A 90-degree elbow makes a sharp, right-angle turn in the pipe. It's frequently used to redirect flow in a pipeline at a right angle.
Long Radius Elbow: This elbow offers a longer center-to-face dimension, ensuring a smoother flow. It's ideal for systems where minimizing friction is crucial.
Short Radius Elbow: A short radius elbow has a shorter center-to-face dimension, making it more compact. It's commonly used in confined or limited spaces.
